Proverbs 31 woman

I was thinking the other day that subconsciously I've been slowly molding my life around that of the Proverbs 31 woman. I remember thinking a couple years ago that there was no way anyone - let alone me - could ever live up to such high standards. But wouldn't you know it, I've taken up some (not all!) of this amazing, theoretical woman's talents and characteristics. This post is not meant to brag by any means, but I think my soul really yearns to be like her, so I'm happy that without knowing it, I've started the transformation.

(p.s. I have to give some of the credit to Andrea [among others], because I think living with her really changed part of my mindset, and also living in a house for the first time since before college was helpful too.)

10 Who can find a virtuous and capable wife?
She is more precious than rubies.

Her husband praises her:
29 “There are many virtuous and capable women in the world,
but you surpass them all!”
30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last;
but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised.
31 Reward her for all she has done.
Let her deeds publicly declare her praise.

Hymn to a Good Wife
10-31 A good woman is hard to find,
and worth far more than diamonds.
Her husband trusts her without reserve,
and never has reason to regret it.
Never spiteful, she treats him generously
all her life long.
She shops around for the best yarns and cottons,
and enjoys knitting and sewing.
She's like a trading ship that sails to faraway places
and brings back exotic surprises.

Charm can mislead and beauty soon fades.
The woman to be admired and praised
is the woman who lives in the Fear-of-God.
